The Translator

So, I have a month off from Grad. school before my summer session starts. You would think that I'd be kicking back and engaging in some mindless activity, right? Well you'd be wrong. Thanks to SaveDarfur.org I got this great book in the mail. I can't put it down. It's extremely sad but heartfelt and really a piece of literature that will open many peoples eyes, should they choose to read it. It shows that even as an individual one person can do so much, so if you choose to read it, ENJOY!

Anger Doesn't Describe...

Anger doesn't describe the feeling that I felt when I read this story on msn.com today. Apparently, in Denver, Colorado two employees of Frontier airlines are accused of making a noose, showing it to a black co-worker and asking "are you ready?" The police ticketed one man with a "bias-motivated crime". According to Steve Snyder a spokesman for Frontier both employees have been "disciplined" and the airline is supposedly stepping up diversity training.

I understand that in this day and age that people are capable of anything and maybe some people would think that as long as the guy was ticketed and the company has disciplined them and they are implementing trainings on diversity that - that makes it alright. I don't think it does. I think that because we live in a day and age, in a country where every where you go you hear about being culturally sensitive and the numbers of minorities and diverse populations increase daily that these types of actions have to be taken very seriously, and are 100% intolerable. I believe that both of those men should be fired. I think that when people are lax and say oh well hey they didn't actually hang someone or hey they didn't take him out back and beat him up, so it's ok, that we are going backwards instead of forward. When people make racially or any kind of biased remarks I think that an example should be made especially by places of education and work that those types of ignorant thoughts and behaviors will not be tolerated.

Everyone has the freedom of speech and if you want to be bigoted and ignorant in your own house amongst your own family and friends then good for you, but you need to keep it there. Life is hard enough as it is no one needs the extra stress of some asshole harassing you, whether it's a one time thing or not. America has come a long way, but it hasn't come far enough that incidents like this can be ignored or "solved" with a slap on the hand. If we're not careful we could end up back on auction blocks before you can bat an eyelash.

In Response

Have a look at this post and then meet me back here for my comments on it...

I say that this can result in a great opportunity for us ladies. If Madden comes out in August then it leaves a lot of room for someone like me who is on a break to be able to go out without having to deal with the burden of little boys wasting my time. You know how it is you're having a drink with your girls minding your own business, laughing, talking, and having a great time and here comes Mr. Head Loser In Charge up to the table just messing up the whole vibe of the night. Not only does head loser not understand that you are not interested in him but he attempts when leaving the table to be a dick about it. As if you don't have the right to make a decision as to who you find interesting and who you don't. You know the type oh, you don't like me, so you must be a bitch or a lesbian. Also the type of guy when I try to explain that being on a break means I'm not looking for a bf a fwb sex a relationship or any of the things inbetween or that resemble those things, can't seem to wrap his head around the concept and can only muster up "well she's playing hard to get" or "I like a challenge". UGH!!!

Back to the point though it also presents an opportunity in that if I have indeed decided to end the break at that time then maybe with all the little boys stuck in the house connected to their game systems like a newborn on a tit, there will be a chance to meet an actual man. A man who may be about responsibility such as working and or school who is goal oriented and interested in meeting someone with the intention of treating her as a man should, not how a boy will. So I say WOOO WHOOO for Madden! Maybe this August while all the boys are enjoying their never ending sausage parties, neglecting daylight, fresh air, and one of the best times of year, late summer, it will be a chance for some of us to meet people who are looking for and want more out of life then food, entertainment, and affection/sex.

My Opinion...

So after I talked about Plies I started thinking about some other stuff I really just don't like right now, and decided that I will share.

First up is this song I'd Rather by Three Six Mafia. I usually love Three Six Mafia if for nothing else than the hot ass beats, but this song was GARBAGE

Anybody who knows me, knows that I really just can not stand Ashanti. She has had a few songs that I liked in the past but once they all started having the word baby in them I was like umm ok. Also after I saw her attempt to sing live a few times I was like oh hell nah!!! So here goes Ashanti with her non-singing ass with another song that I can't stand...

I like Keyshia Cole. But I have an issue with her and Mary J. Blige who I also like. I'm tired of hearing the same freakin song with a different title over and over again. Tell me something different. Ok, a man did you wrong you gotta move on, ok, you are in love and it is awesome, ok, you want to empower others who may have gone through rough times like you did I GOT IT...

We all know that R. Kelly is the self proclaimed King of R&B, and for the most part is well warranted. Yes, the man is nasty as hell for sleeping with little girls and stupid as hell for not messing with a chick that is at least 18 but he has made so many great songs, this is not one of them...

This one sucks balls too....

I have absolutely nothing against this particular artist, I just plain and simply don't like this song...

I just don't like Plies

I'll be the first to admit that I like songs that I probably really shouldn't like sometimes. I heard this song the other day though and I was like seriously, I mean really, I'll admit that I liked Shawty and probably just because T-Pain was in it. I just think that Plies makes the same song over and over again. It's like can you please talk about something else. It's just sad when there are so many people out there who do have a talent when comes to rapping and they can't be heard and then someone like Plies comes along and for some reason Ne-Yo and T-Pain wanna work with him and he gets radio play. Let's keep it real folks the radio play is not because of Plies it's because of the guest spots. Anyway, I couldn't find the video for it but here's the song you listen and judge for yourself. But I think it sounds like every other song he has made and the only redeeming quality is Ne-Yo singing the hook...

10 Books I'm Dying To Read.... But Don't Have The Time To.

1. - No More Drama by Sil Lai Abrams
This book is written by Sil lai Abrams she is an accomplished woman whom no one would have ever thought has been through the trials and tribulations that she has. In this book she writes about how you can use the SEPIA method a nine step process that will help you to stop repeating the patterns of drama in your life. Sil lai wants everyone who reads this book to be able to stop living from crisis to crisis and instead live a meaningful life, sounds good to me!

2. - Become a Better You by Joel Osteen
Well this one is pretty simple Joel Osteen wrote this book in an effort for its readers to become a better person. This book is supposed to inspire you to realize your full potential and live your life to that potential.

3. - Love's Executioner & Other Tales of Psychotherapy by Irvin D. Yalom
In this book there are 10 featured stories about Yalom's patients and the experiences he has had in counseling. I'm definitely going to find the time to read this one if it kills me.
4. - The Sercret by Rhonda Byrne
I just want to read it to see what the hell the big deal was!!!
5. - A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose by Eckhart Tolle
Well it made it on to Oprah's Book Club so it must not be that bad of a read. I'm a sucker for books about life's purpose and what not and when I flipped through this one in the bookstore it looked intriguing.
6. - Saving Graces: Finding Solace and Strength from Friends and Strangers by Elizabeth Edwards
Elizabeth Edwards the wife of John Edwards wrote this book after her first battle with cancer. She talks about her struggles and her success through dealing with life's challenges including losing a child, cancer, and her husbands political career. I read about this book in a magazine at a doctors office one day and it sounded very genuine and encouraging.
7. - The Choice by Nicholas Sparks
I love Nicholas Sparks books. I think they are romantic and tell a great story but being that they are written by a man it's not super duper girly, which I must admit is usually a deal breaker for me. This is his newest book I believe and I haven't yet had a chance to read it so that's why it's on the list.
8. - How Would Love Respond?: Imagine If You Were Given a Gift So Powerful That You Knew You Had to Share It with the World by Kurek Ashley
This dude survived a helicopter crash and his best friend died in his arms. So I'm thinking this must be a pretty powerful book. Ashley went through severe depression afterwards and some how managed to not only turn his life around but share his ideals, gifts, and spirituallity with others to teach the world how we all should be living this life.
9. - The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate by Gary Chapman
Dr. Gary Chapman has been a marriage counselor for years. A difficult career path to say the least. In this book he talks about how he has defined the ways that we express love in a relationship in five "languages". He describes the languages and shares stories of people he has worked with and believes that if people understand how their mate expresses love and how to express love in a way that your mate can acknowledge it then you can make your marriage work and be happy in it. I'm not married but just from a counseling point of view it interests me and sounds like a good read.
10. - Shrunken Heads (The Insane, the Profane, and the Profound on the Road to Becoming a Psychologist) by Gregory Lester
I had the priviledge of attending one of Dr. Lester's seminars a month or so ago. He works with Axis II patients, patients who suffer with personality disorders. He gave us such an indepth look into personality disorders why they are so hard to treat and different ways to treat patients. It was the best training that I have been to yet. He talked to us briefly about this book, the first book that he wrote. He also has a new book out called Power with People: How to Handle Just About Anyone to Accomplish Just About Anything. This book is as it says about his journey to become a psychologist and some of the outrageous things that happened to him on the way.

Hmmmmmmm

Quick question, I was browsing People.com and ran across the above picture. What would you call the item in Jay-Z's hand? (Obviously, I'm not talking about the hand with the phone in it.)

Olympic Protests

Well first off I'd like to give the link to the SaveDarfur.org website where you can go and download the Save Darfur sign that says extinguish the flames. Take a picture of yourself holding the sign and then upload it to the website and they will display the pictures during the torch relay in San Fransisco this Wednesday. Extinguish The Flames!!!

Here's a video of protesters demonstrating against Chinese human rights violations at the Olympic torch relay in Paris. Security officials had to put the torch out several times and transport the torch by bus because the protesters were so adamant.

Here's a slideshow with pictures from people scaling the Golden Gate bridge in anticipation of the relay on Wednesday, and some images of the other protests that have been going on.

Protest Slideshow

Protests have taken place in London as well as Paris and according to MSN.com it is expected that there will be protests on the rest of the 21 stop tour through May 4th. Hopefully, if nothing else these protests will open China's eyes on there violations of human rights in Tibet and by financing the Genocide in Darfur. If nothing else maybe they will start to make some changes just to avoid the bad press. I sure hope so.

ISTP

Dominant Introverted Thinking
INTP & ISTP What is it like?

By Danielle Poirier www.RebelEagle.com
© copyright Rebel Eagle Productions

Rodin's Thinker is introverted. Here these thinkers ponder the apparent chaos of the world in order to extract from it the universal truths and principles that can be counted on. These principles, once extracted, will provide the logical structure on which to build strategies.

They have a finely nuanced ability to analyse situations, find root causes and foresee consequences. They distrust action taken too quickly without the necessary investigation. They are usually levelheaded, objective, impersonal yet intensely involved in problem solving. They are fiercely independent, seeking input and comments from a chosen few. When reporting to others, they need to establish credibility first: their own and that of the person they are reporting to. If the gap in knowledge and expertise is too great and their own proficiency dismissed, belittled or ignored, they will lose interest and motivation.

They are less interested in running the world as they are in understanding it. They are curious and capable of explaining complex political, economic or technological problems, taking great pleasure in explaining all the factors and intricacies. They are rigorous with their thoughts and analysis, choosing the exact words that convey precisely what is meant. They may spend a lot of time defining words, concepts and systems in order to define a problematic solution.

They are armchair detectives, scientists and philosophers, spending most of their time in quiet reflection to ponder truth, and solve mysteries. They may tend to neglect social requirements and responsibilities, finding many relationships to be too superficial to be of much interest.

Well Written Advice

A little something for the ladies, and the guys if you're smart enough to go ahead and read it...

Getting It Done Right!!!

Superman

So I was listening to WJFK this morning and they were talking about the Superman Punch. They were making it sound like it was the coolest thing ever. I'm not saying that it isn't but when I had a chance I looked it up on YouTube and honestly it happened so quickly that I think it kind of takes away from how hard it has to be, to be able to throw a punch like that. From what I gathered you are supposed to pretend like you are going to kick the guy and usually they throw a few kicks before hand just so he won't expect it. Then you fake the kick and just pull back as far as possible and punch the shit out of the guy. So check it out.
